I love my closet. I’m
one of those ladies who hang things according to color. I admit, my animal print section is a bit too
large. And I only have things I love to
wear. Everything else I donated for
someone else to love. I have clothes for
beach time, hiking, painting (my favorite cause they have memories of all my
paint projects the last many years,) formal parties, church, dancing (my hula
skirt is a cherished handmade gift from my friend, Lee Ann), and loungewear for
when I’d really rather be naked but society just hasn’t changed those rules. Yet.
I don’t have a lot and NOTHING for trips to the mainland in
winter. (My kids meet me at the airport with my parka, boots, and gloves.) But it works for me in my tropical home. I have something to wear for everything I
want to do and projects I want to get done.
One day last week I had the image of a “Thought Wardrobe”
pop into my head. If my thoughts
generate my feelings which fuel my actions, then shouldn’t I have a “Thought
Wardrobe” with thoughts to go with every action I want or need to take today?
Want to clean the house?
Choose this thought: I thrive in
a clean, orderly space as does my family.
Want to have that crucial conversation? Try this on for size: I share well thought
out ideas and people welcome my input.
Want to release (I guess losing weight is old school. Now we “release” the weight. If we “lose” it,
we might “find” it again!!) What about
this thought: I enjoy living in a
healthy strong body.
Want to be closer to God?
Put on this thought: My spirit
remembers His voice.
Match the thought to the activity the same way we do
clothes.
So I’m starting my own “Thought Wardrobe.” I’m keeping tabs on when I’m feeling on top
of the world. What am I thinking
today? What item did I choose from my
“Thought Wardrobe” today? I’m borrowing
others’ thoughts that resonate with me, too.
There is no copywrite for thoughts – find one, use it, get
‘er done!!
I’m starting a list and posting it on my closet door. When I dress in the morning, I’m going to check
my schedule and then scan my thought list and see which thought will generate
the emotion and action needed today. And
then I will think it intentionally over and over. That’s how beliefs are born. Think it enough times and it becomes true for
you.
Some days I’ll need to change “Thought” outfits during the
day. But its’ okay – I can have a killer
“Thought Wardrobe” because ladies, here’s the good news, THOUGHTS ARE
FREE!!!! Even better than a BOGO! What thought are you wearing today?
